For Sale is a set of classic smallpipes from one of the premiere Scottish pipe makers Hamish Moore. This set is in the key of A, crafted from African blackwood, and is adorned with cocobolo mounts and genuine, hallmarked, sterling silver ferrules. The pipes consist of a bass, tenor, and baritone drone, chanter, and set of bellows. It is equipped with a Michael MacHarg hyde bag, EzeeDrone drone reeds, and a cane chanter reed. The pipes are in excellent condition and have no visible marks or blemishes. The pipes sound rich and warm and the baritone tunes to D which adds a lovely dynamic to the tone.
The bellows is original equipment and works fine but it is a little leaky. I believe it is the clack valve which doesn’t quite seal due to the leather drying out. I have pipes in other keys and have adapted one bellows to fit all so I haven’t used the Hamish bellows for a while.
Pipes crafted by Hamish and Fin are the choice of many professional pipers throughout the world. I have owned these pipes for over 2o years but medical conditions make them difficult for me to play. I would rather see them played and enjoyed instead of sitting in a closet gathering dust.
